Coral Springs location update...

Ciao tutti!  I apologize for the lack of posts but the expansion project in Coral Springs is in full swing and between that and the day to day operations, there isn't much time left for anything else.  I thought I would post some pics  and hopefully post some within the next couple of weeks to keep you all up to date.  Walls will be coming down soon and the store will officially begin to take on a new look.  We appreciate your patience during this time of change and hope that you are still able to enjoy shopping amidst the commotion. Tell us what you think so far!

This 8500lb piece of machinery will provide refrigeration throughout the store

Our meat and seafood departments are going to impress you...

There is going to be a whole new look to the store that will finally support our commitment to overall quality

Our meat cutters are very excited to be working in a new and much larger cutting room...

Get in the Mood with "Romantic Italy"

Growing up, I always enjoyed the old educational films viewed on from the projector.  To me there's something special about those films with the narrator who always sounded like Edward G Robinson's enthusiastic yet calm brother with great grammatical skills.
Well I came across this video about Italy in the 50s and I have to admit, there is something lacking in today's presentations.  Just viewing this video makes me want to buy two tickets for my wife and I and spend at least two romatic weeks touring the country.  At least view this short presentation, enjoy the sights,  and maybe get in the mood to have a romantic evening with your loved one with some nice music playing in the background.

The Kiss: Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

I believe that kissing is one of the most wonderful of actions.  It expresses our love to family, friends and lovers.   I feel the lips are an extension of our soul and when we kiss someone, we leave an imprint of our soul.  When we embrace a loved one in a truly romantic manner and kiss deeply, two souls dance. Let's face it, kissing  is an action that defines moments.  In the movie world, a kiss can make the film great or it can send it to dudsville.
Speaking of kissing in film, here is a great scene form Cinema Paradiso.  If you never saw this film, I recommend you to do so.  In the meantime, enjoy!  What's your favorite movie kiss?

Sometimes, the best gifts are hand made....

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and the card a loved one receives is just as important as the gift.  Why not go that extra mile and make a card that pops out at them!  These are easy to make and take about 20 minutes.  Get the template here: and for the web page that gives more detailed instructions, visit:  Happy Valentine's Day!

Our Coral Springs' expansion/renovation project

Ciao Tutti!  Well we are over one month into our construction project at our Coral Springs location and so far, things are going smoothly.  Not bad considering that this project is a three headed monster.
  • The first is the expansion aspect.  We are adding two more bays comprising of approximately 3000 square feet.  This additional space will be mainly our new meat/seafood department with extra retail floor space allowing for both more self service and full service features.
  • The second is the renovation aspect.  Along with the expansion, the store will go through a complete facelift.  Using a professional retail designer, the whole store will have a whole new look and feel.
  • The third and most crucial aspect is that this project is being executed while the store remains open.  this requires a day crew to work on the outside and empty bays and a night crew to do more of the same as well as work in our existing retail areas.
It's going to be a rough ride but well worth it.  This project gives the store a much needed solution to crowded ailes and limited selection as well as it will create a few more jobs and ensure that our current employees still have a place to work.  So please excuse our disarray while we make the store bigger and better.  In the meantime, I provided some images of our expansion side since the public is closed off to it.  Thank you for your loyalty and we hope you are just as excited as we are.  Ci vediamo!

This bay used to be a dance studio

The demolition allowed the two bays to be combined and it quickly allowed us to visualize the plan

The bays were quickly stripped bare before the actual construction began

Trenching is required for plumbing, electrical and elevation changes

Where I stood taking the picture is to be behind the scenes. Beyond the wall frame is to be the meat & seafood departments and retail floor.

It's beginning to come together

This will be the retail area looking toward the front of the store.  Meat & Seafood.
Keep checking in as we update you with other parts of the project.  Grazie!

Just wanted to say thanks.......

This past November I shared the good news that our blog had over 5000 visits in one month.  For us, this was something to be both proud of and excited about.  This blog started out as a little side project to share stories, recipes, videos, and even our ads for those who do not get the paper.  And while most of our time is demanded by the everyday events of our stores, we look forward to escaping to this blog and share.

Along the way, we have met other sites that share the same interests and we have created a nice cybertalian neighborhood that spreads across the country.  Well, for the last two months, this blog has averaged over 6200 visits per month!  We are still growing and we have big plans for 2012.  If you visit this blog regularly, please become a follower.  We plan for more content and even some give away promotions for all.  While our stores are in South Florida, this blog allows us to reach anyone in the world who is looking for a site with variety.

So spread the word about this blog if you like it.  We would love to get 10,000 visits in one month eventually and it could happen this year.  Thank you all again for  the support and we look forward to our future with you all.
